Never, if you really love something, lend it out to anybody but your most trusted friends. Several years ago--I think it was in the late 'eighties--we taped this show off of Canadian television. It was a pantomime called "The Cinderella Gang," and it was so funny, especially to little kids. Anyway, we watched it and watched it, and whenever we would have little kids over at the house who had to be entertained, we would pop it in. Well, one day, one family wanted to borrow it. They'd borrowed other movies in the past and always returned them, but this never got returned. They said they'd given it back, but we've never seen it since. The moral of the story? Don't lend anything you care about!
I'm not sure why I've been thinking about that today, but occasionally I'll hear something or see something that'll being to mind a line or two from the show--such as "Izzattt...." as muttered often by the worm (whose name, I think, was Willie the Worm), or something from the two Ugly Stepsisters, played by men, or the prince when he was wearing his false teeth, or Dandini, his mouthy chamberlain, or, of course, Buttons, Cinderella's lovable sidekick and the true star of the show. It was all crazy fun.
Isn't it odd how things from the past stay with you your whole life? I still remember things from when I was five or six. Of course, I can't always remember things from five or six days ago! Still, your childhood memories and impressions stay with you forever. I guess that's one reason why parents have such a huge responsibility to raise their children properly.
Enough randomness for one day! On to more serious matters, like seeing if I got a story acceptance in today's mail (not likely), or another rejection (I'm getting used to those)! Oh, the life of an author...

Hello,
I so relate... I saw this show when I was a child too on TV & am looking for it on the net now.
Do you know how to find it?
Can you contact me? (since I don't see a way to write to you)

I too was just browsing (again) to see if there was any trace of finding my beloved Cinderella Gang. Just the other day I started singing that song to my son (who's 4). I would love to share this show with him, I have NEVER forgotten it. We taped it years ago, and wore out the tape watching it so many times.
A few years ago we went to see Ross Petty's annual production "Snow White & the Group of Seven", It was great, but I miss my classic Ross Petty from Cinderella Gang, performing as the prince in years gone by. Thanks so much for a memory jog, and a reminiscent moment. If anyone finds it, PLEASE let me know where.

I've not been able to find a copy anywhere--I even checked on ebay.ca. If I ever do find a copy, I will be sure to post about it and give details. For now, I guess memories will have to suffice!
I've tried to find a copy of that movie for a while. If you ever hear of one let me know please.

The one with Karen Kain? I know EXACTLY what one you're talking abiout. Silly Willy, the turtle? GOOD DAAAYYY. YEAH, that sounds like it to me. My father transferred it from VHS to DVD for me. However, its missing the third segment. I'd love to try to upload it to YouTube sometime. I'm just glad I'm not the only one who ever had a copy of it.
apperantly there is a secret group of people around the world searching for a copy of this play.
